Excelsior Medical Group distributes surgical products, medical devices, dialysis equipment, medical supplies and consumables. It has 65 distribution centres and caters to some of the largest hospitals and around 75,000 medical facilities throughout Taiwan. Consistent shipment accuracy and timeliness, as well as the adaptation of best practices to manage an expanding SKU under controlled temperature conditions, lot and expiry tracking, across 4 warehouses and 60 fleets of vehicles, is becoming a challenge. The warehouse operations were also heavily reliant on manpower resources and the lack of inventory visibility, data analytics and poor order capture is increasingly affecting the bottom line.
With the integration of the Symphony WMS™ in Bestchain’s warehouse operations, it enabled its client, the Excelsior Medical Group to adhere to medical logistics certification standards, manage and control drugs and medical products, including clinical trail storage, controlled products, hospital consignment, low-temperature product management and product recall management.
Bestchain’s management of the Excelsior Medical Group’s warehouse logistics achieved stock-taking accuracy by 99.99% by the process, lot number, expiry date management in one platform. Picking efficiency improved from 20% to 37% across all the 4 warehouse sites, reducing operational costs and fast-tracking the warehouse operations process and increased throughput. It has also added the Symphony Mobility™ that enables Bestchain’s field operators to print shipment barcodes on-the-go and close each delivery job status electronically.
